2020 Hyundai Sonata Has Gone Soft (and That’s a Good Thing)

2020 Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai has taken the opposite approach to Toyota for its midsized sedan. While the Camry has gotten sharper and sportier like a BMW, the Sonata has become docile and dignified like a Mercedes S-Class.

Like its name evokes, the ~Sonata~ is soft and elegant, with a pliant suspension, a gentle-shifting powertrain and a beautiful cabin. It’s the polar opposite of the shouty and explosive Veloster N, and I admire how Hyundai can offer both extremes for under $30k.

So if you’re shopping for a long, comfortable sedan, consider that a loaded-up Sonata Limited costs under half of its luxury-badged competitors.
