1. Find a bank-run ATM. The independent cash machines charge high withdrawal rates and are often less safe. Euronet has a massive network of ATMs and lures in tourists with bright blue-and-yellow kiosks. Avoid these at all costs as they charge huge fees.
2. When asked if you want to be billed in U.S. dollars or local currency, always choose local currency. The exchange rate will be better.
3. When asked if you accept or reject conversion, always choose reject. You may see the wording Dynamic Currency Conversion. Always say no to this choice or you will be charged an extra fee.
