Why we love Corazón Cabo for our vacations in Cabo

We found several reasons to love Corazón Cabo Resort & Spa for our most recent trip to Cabo San Lucas. These include the incredible views, the gorgeous beach, the delicious food, the walkable location and the elegant spa.

A highlight of this resort is Rooftop 360, the highest terrace in the city with a view overlooking Medano Beach, the Sea of Cortez and the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains.

I spent my first evening attending a tequila tasting interrupting it briefly to watch the sun set, which cast a golden glow on our beautiful surroundings. Shouldn’t every day end this way?

Here are some of the highlights of my stay at Corazón Cabo Resort & Spa.

Gorgeous rooms with incredible views

The first thing I do when I walk into a new hotel room is head to the window to check out the view. Well, there was that one night in a hotel in Athens, Greece, where we discovered there was no window, but that’s the exception. That time we just laughed because we had to leave at 7:00 a.m. the next day anyway so who needs a window?

At Corazón Cabo I was thrilled to find a stunning view of three of the resort pools, the beach and the mountains. Glorious.

Corazón Cabo, which opened in February 2022, has 305 guest rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors to take advantage of those gorgeous views.

For the most luxurious stay, book one of the 17 suites in the new Corazón Tower. Families and small groups may want to book a suite as these come with a kitchenette or a kitchen. There’s also a 2500-square-foot, three-bedroom Beach House that has a private pool and hot tub.

I loved the view from my room and spent time on the spacious balcony enjoying it. I could also lounge on the couch at the foot of the bed facing the TV or at the small round table in the corner.

The Corazón Beach Club and three pools

I sat back in my comfortable lounge chair, shielded from the sun by a large umbrella, and sipped on my chilled glass of rosé. I thought of all those years of lugging chairs and umbrellas to the beach, then sipping on barely chilled can drinks that invariably included grains of sand. I vowed to do more of this and less of that.

The Beach Club includes a full-service bar and restaurant so I didn’t have to move to enjoy my adult beverage and delicious tacos for lunch.

When I wanted to cool off, I could take a dip in Cabo’s best swimmable beach, unlike at other Cabo resorts where I could admire the waves but couldn’t swim due to strong undertows on the Pacific Coast.

In addition to the two stunning infinity pools, Corazón Cabo a family pool with a swim-up bar where guests can order food and drinks.

If you can pry yourself off one of the comfortable lounge chairs, water activities include kayaking, paddle boarding and Snuba. If you’re feeling adventurous, and have better balance than I do, you may want to try floating above the water on a HydroFoil.

Exercising and relaxing at Rooftop 360

One morning I took a 7:00 a.m. Aqua Yoga class in the infinity pool on Rooftop 360, which I attended with some apprehension. I didn’t think I was up to the challenge of trying to do a warrior pose while remaining afloat on the paddle board. Luckily, our teacher seemed to gear the class towards our varying skill levels and we stuck to easier poses that required sitting or lying down, both activities at which I excel.

We ate dinner at Rooftop 360 one night, lit up by twinkling lights, and enjoyed a variety of craft cocktails along with delicious dishes that included tacos, sushi, flank steak and churros with chocolate and strawberries.

Even if you don’t stay at this resort, make it a point to head to Rooftop 360 for a cocktail or meal, however only guests are allowed to use the pool.

Having a spa treatment at Sparitural

You’ll want to arrive early for your treatment at Sparitual to make use of the sauna, steam room, hot tub and a guided Hydrotherapy Circuit. If you’re not getting a treatment, you can still use these amenities for $25 as a hotel guest.

The spa offers an array of treatments, including a Balinese Ritual for Couples to hot stone, Thai massages, facials, manicures and pedicures. My hot stone massage was delightfully relaxing.

Dining at Aleta Restaurant

I loved the open-air setting and beach view at Aleta, which serves three meals a day.

In addition to a breakfast buffet and typical breakfast menu items like oatmeal, avocado toast and waffles, Aleta has Mexican dishes like huevos rancheros and quesabirria.

But as soon as I saw the the chilaquiles, I knew what I would be ordering. Served in a large bowl, the mixture of black beans, avocado, sour cream and cotija cheese served over tortillas was delicious.

Lunch selections include burgers, salads, soups, ceviche and tacos. There’s also a huge selection of delicious sushi served daily from 11:00 to 9:00 p.m.

I have a tough time selecting a dinner entrée when faced with a menu like Aleta’s that includes so many of my favorites – braised brisket, steak, lobster, seared tuna, yellowtail snapper, sea bass and even a lobster enchilada.

Other dining options include Corazón Pool Grill and Baja Brewing, Cabo’s only microbrewery, which serves traditional pub fare and also has an incredible view.  Camaleon Café serves coffee drinks and to-go items.

Walking to activities in downtown Cabo

Corazón Cabo was about a 45-minute drive from the Los Cabos International Airport and is walkable to downtown Cabo.

One evening we took a food tour with Robin of Avocado Food Tours, stopping at five restaurants for delicious tastes of local food.

Another day we had a short walk to the marina for a boat tour with Alejandro of Rancho Tours. He took us on the Sea of Cortez to see some of the famous sites that include the Arch and Lovers Beach.

I really got a kick out of one sea lion who hopped on the back of a neighboring boat looking for more food.
