On a hot and sultry summer afternoon, I boarded an airboat for a swamp tour adventure with Airboat Adventures on the Louisiana bayou. We flew over the water in the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Spanish moss draped from cypress trees, and the murky water of the Mississippi Delta was the backdrop to lurking alligators and other unseen wildlife.
Our captain, a Louisiana boy who grew up in the area, had a sense of humor to go along with his pilot certification from the U.S. Coast Guard. History, wit, and adventure were all rolled into one exciting experience.
