by Jan SchroderWhile you may think of camping sites, lodges and cabins for park accommodations, some offer lodging a bit more out-of-the box. We recently stayed in a 1970s barrel cabin in Unicoi State Park in North Georgia, so named because it’s shaped like a giant barrel.

I’m not one for the spotlight. Chris Schroder and I were on a TV show once and I did not say one word. But when you want to make a video on a two-person trip and one is the expert videographer, then you’re left to be on camera. I love riverboat cruising so much I got through the filming of our video on Emerald Waterways. I hope you enjoy it.

We rose before the sun and seven of us piled into the rental van for a four-hour trip to Glacier National Park where we drove as far as we could up Going-to-the-Sun Road, toured Grouse Mountain Lodge, picnicked by a huge, deep blue lake and hiked through mountain trails over rushing streams. We all agreed it was the best day of our Montana vacation, and vowed to plan more trips in national parks.

We’ve noticed some items disappearing from our hotel rooms. (Don’t even get me started on the disappearing shower cap. No one but me seems to care.) So we asked, which could you live without?
