Protect yourself from this easy-to-fall-for scam

You need to reach an airline and Googled the customer service number. You call the number at the top of the results. Or, you posted a problem with a flight on social media and an agent calls you to fix it. You may be dealing with a scammer who will get personal information and charge you money.

Scammers have set up websites mimicking those of major airlines and bought Google ads to make them look legit.

To protect yourself, download the airline’s app and call the 800 number on the app. Or call the number on your airline-affiliated credit card.
