Pilgrims have been walking from Cashel to Ardmore in Ireland for 1,500 years to visit the grave and monastery of Saint Declan’s, an early Irish bishop. St. Declan’s Way is now an official walking path approved by Sport Ireland.

Travelers can follow the blue trail markers in either direction to walk the entire 72-mile trail, which includes gorgeous scenery along  rivers, across wooden bridges, through farmland and forests and by stately castles. Walking the entire trail would take around 5-6 days.

For updates, tips and where to eat and drink on the trail, visit the St. Declan’s Way Facebook page.
