Renting a car? Your personal data may be at risk

I was riding with a friend to Blue Ridge, Georgia, when she drove past the exit. Turns out the GPS was set to somewhere in Pennsylvania from the last person who rented the car.

If you rent a car and connect your phone to the infotainment system, the car collects your contact information, call history, media libraries and other personal data. It stays in the car’s system until it is manually removed.

The solutions?
• Disconnect your phone by selecting the Bluetooth settings, find paired devices, select your phone and pick delete or remove.
• Perform a factory reset on the system.
