Some good things came out of the pandemic for travelers. One of the best? Some airlines eliminated those horrible change fees permanently for travel within the United States.

Paying $200 to change a flight was abhorrent for fliers but a huge moneymaker for airlines, which raked in $2.8 billion from them in 2019.

United, American and Delta have promised no more change fees for domestic travel, with Delta and American also eliminating them for some international travel. Previously Southwest was the only airline that didn’t charge change fees.

Check each airlines’ policies as basic economy and other fares may be exceptions.
