Hotel E opened seven days before I arrived. It was a travel writer’s dream – being one of the first guests in a new hotel.
The 1907 Empire Building in Santa Rosa, California, was stunningly repurposed to a 71-room boutique hotel on Old Courthouse Square, a keystone of the downtown renewal.
Spacious rooms have enormous windows overlooking the square. Vintage photos and art from local artists adorn guest rooms and public spaces. The lobby functions as a living room where guests mingle.
The heart of Hotel E is the staff. Welcoming and professional, the new team delivered hospitality I won’t forget.

What a cool hotel. Next time I’m in the area I want to stay there.
Great place to stay. Charming renovated building, very clean & beautifully updated. Walking distance to wonderful restaurants. Will return!
Kurt, it’s in a no-drive location with craft breweries, eateries, shops, botanical garden, entertainment, and best of all, the Santa Rosa Farmer’s Market. Let me know when you go; I’ll come down to show you some of my favs. –MaryGo
Glad you liked it, Lynda.
