Is it time to say good-bye to those oh so cute hotel toiletries?

When you stay in a hotel in California your bathroom counter may look a little emptier. As of January 1, the state banned the distribution of single-use plastic bottles in hotels with more than 50 rooms. Beginning January 1, 2024, they will be banned in all hotels.

The goal is to reduce the amount of plastic waste.  New York and the EU are considering a similar ban.

Many hotel chains have been in the process of switching away from the small bottles to larger refillable bottles inside showers. These include Accor, Marriott, Hyatt and IHG.

We’ll miss the bath gel.
