This affordable, growing travel trend is not for everyone

home in paris on Kindred home exchange

Imagine staying in a home in Amsterdam, Dublin, Madrid or Rome for a small fee. That’s the business model of Kindred, a new home exchange platform that has more than 10,000 homes in 50 cities.

While there is no membership fee, all members must be verified and accept guests in their own home. You will meet potential guests over video before approving them.

You can book five nights before you have to host and receive credits every time you host. There is a cleaning fee that varies by home and a service fee of no more than $35 a night.
