Help restore Maui’s coastline, pick up trash from hiking trails, plant a tree at a ranch, help restore a battleship – these are just a few of the activities you can engage in with the Malama Hawaii program, a statewide initiative that allows visitors to give back to the island while on vacation. Some programs are self-directed while others are part of a group experience.

Visitors can earn discounts and free hotel nights at participating hotel partners. These include some 5-star resorts, like  Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, which partnered with Lahaina Restoration Foundation to document and transcribe historic artifacts.
