They were the best empanadas I’d ever had. We were at La Masa Empanada Bar on the Brady Street Lunch Tour with Milwaukee Food Tours, one of several stops we made while strolling down the mile-long street and learning the history of this neighborhood. It was first settled by German, Irish and Polish immigrants, followed by Italians.
Other stops included Zaffiro’s Pizza, which has been serving its popular pies since 1954, Peter Sciortino Bakery for cannoli and Italian wedding cake, Glorioso’s Italian Market, started in 1946, for samples of olives, bread and prosciutto, and Chocolate Sommelier for tasty chocolate treats.
