How can you not fall in love with this whimsical sculpture of a girl in red shoes and blue dress with a shark head?
Shark Girl was created out of fiberglass by artist Casey Riordan Millard and made her debut in 2013 by the river in Cinninati, Ohio. She was moved to Buffalo in 2014 where she is beloved by locals and visitors who line up to pose with her.
I doubt most visitors contemplate the artist’s conception of her that relates to existential thoughts on life, love and loss. Casey said she created her to “reflect her own anxieties.”
