Remembering Why I Used to Take the Scenic Route

I used to study road maps to find scenic byways to drive to other cities. Since then, I admit to driving the quickest way from A to B and that means traveling the nondescript interstate highway system.

Waze, my preferred GPS companion, has not only introduced me to shortcuts I wasn’t aware of in my hometown, it has changed how I drive to other states.

Recently, traffic prompted Waze to send me on what seemed like a longer route home. It was equal distance – and gorgeous. I drove slower and enjoyed the trip much more. That’s now how I roll.
