You Don’t Search for Parking or Pay Fee When You Visit Acadia National Park This Way

Hiking in Acadia National Park was a highlight of our trip to Maine. Yes, it was crowded on a Sunday afternoon and we passed dozens of cars looking for a parking spot along the road. But we weren’t one of them.

We hopped on the Island Explorer, one of the propane-powered buses that provide free transportation to visitors to Mt. Desert Island, taking them to shops, restaurants, beaches and hiking trails. Our destination was Acadia and we caught a bus at Bar Harbor Village Green.

Another bonus is that we didn’t have to pay an entry fee to the park.
