Will You Need a Real ID When You Fly Again?

We hadn’t quite figured out what we needed to do about the REAL ID requirement that was going into effect this year.

The good news is we can delay figuring it out as the deadline for having one has been extended a year. The previous deadline had been Oct. 1, 2020 and is now Oct. 1, 2021.

At that point a REAL ID will be required to fly. If you have a gold or black star on your driver’s license, you’re already good to go in most states.

You can also fly with alternate forms of ID, such as a passport.
