Changes coming as TSA turns 21

new scanner at Atlanta airport

In Atlanta you don’t present a boarding pass when traveling through TSA, just a driver’s license. It’s a step towards more DIY security. Here are other changes:

• TSA has acquired more powerful CT scanners and placed them in around 100 airports. These scanners will allow all passengers to leave their computers, iPads and toiletries in their bags.

• We’ll still have to take off our coats, but all passengers may be able to leave on their shoes. A pilot program is using a step-on scanner that can inspect your clothing.

Sadly, it looks like we’re stuck with the 3.4-ounce liquid rule.
