Why the 2019 Ford Ranger Doesn’t Feel So New

by Chris Butsch

The Ford F-series is the best-selling vehicle in the world. In 2018, someone drove home in a new Ford truck every 30 seconds.

Naturally, when Ford resurrected the Ranger name in America after an eight-year hiatus, expectations were high. But the Ranger doesn’t quite feel new … because it isn’t; Ford has been selling this Ranger overseas since 2015, and has simply brought it home mid-cycle.

Still, the “new” Ranger is well-styled, comfortable and efficient. Compared to the Toyota “Taco” Tacoma, the Ranger feels roomier and can tow more, omitting typical concessions of a small truck.
